 Google Allows Trump's Social Network, Truth Social, On Google Play Store

Google said that it allowed the publication of the application of the social network (Truth Social) , affiliated with former US President (Donald Trump), through the Play Store, after blocking it earlier.

Why did Google block the app?

Google previously explained that it refused to publish (Truth Social) through its store due to its lack of censorship tools that prevent offensive posts among users of the application, which Trump decided to launch after he was banned from social networks following the riots that his supporters did in the US Capitol in 2021, rejecting the results of the application. The elections that ousted him and led to the success of the current president (Joe Biden).

And last August, Google notified Trump Media and Technology Group , which is responsible for the (Truth Social) network, of several violations of its policies in the application.

The US tech giant said at the time that Trump's app had broken rules banning content that incites physical threats and violence, but the company is working to address those issues.

Although Google allows the ability to download applications on the Android system from outside the Play Store, the store is the first and most popular way to download applications on mobile devices running the most popular operating system around the world.
(Truth Social) complies with Google policies

Now, Google has allowed Truth Social because it has been updated to comply with its policies that prevent abusive posts, by adding an effective system for reporting and blocking unwanted content, as well as blocking abusers.

“It has been a pleasure working with Google, and we are thrilled that they have finally helped us deliver (TruthSocial) to all Americans, no matter what device they are using,” said Devin Nunes, CEO of Trump Media and Technology Group.

"Today marks an important milestone in our mission to restore freedom of expression on the Internet," Nunes added in the statement posted on the company's website.

Earlier this October, TMTG said that the (Truth Social) application is available to users in the United States who use Samsung phones, which run Android but have another app store of their own.

The company sought to make the application available through Samsung, given that the Korean company's share of the US smartphone market is 30 percent, according to the market analysis company Counterpoint.

In addition, there is a copy of the (Truth Social) application available for iPhone phones through the App Store of Apple, which also imposes strict policies on applications.
